Deepen Your Practice

Zoom In is about more than student learning. It’s also designed to be embedded professional development — to help you improve your teaching practice as you teach.

As you teach with Zoom In, you are following a research-based instructional arc that leads to student success and can serve as a model as you design and teach other inquiry and writing units.

Throughout each mini-unit, the teacher guide and on-screen Teacher Slideshows provide detailed guidance on higher-order questions to ask, ideas to reinforce, and reading, writing, and discussion strategies to use. 

To go even deeper, consult the following documents, alone or with colleagues, as you teach with Zoom In. Organize a school-based Professional Learning Community around one or more of these practices, and use Zoom In units, student data, and the readings to build stronger teaching together.
